Guatemala’s Banco Industrial taps Thought Machine to power digital innovation unit Zigi

Zigi - FinTech News

Guatemala’s largest bank, Banco Industrial, has selected UK-based banking tech vendor Thought Machine’s cloud-native Vault Core banking platform to power its new digital innovation arm, Zigi.

Zigi was created by Banco Industrial to design, test, launch, and scale new financial products. In early December 2025, the bank partnered with money remittance provider Intermex to launch the Zigi app, powered by Vault Core.

Through the app, Guatemalans can receive remittances directly into their Zigi or Banco Industrial accounts by using only a phone number, replacing the need for traditional cash pickups. Users can make payments, save money, and apply for digital credit products to help create a financial history.

Thought Machine says that by utilising its tech, Zigi was able to launch the offering “in just three months”, and has since “evolved this solution into a white-label lending platform” which is currently achieving over 50,000 credit disbursements per month.

The banking tech vendor adds that its platform “enables Zigi’s team to prototype and deploy new solutions rapidly, from lending to digital payments and beyond”.

Zigi joins a growing group of banks and financial institutions utilising Thought Machine’s Vault Core technology, including General Bank of CanadaZopa Bank, and Shawbrook.
