Former SIBS CEO Madalena Cascais Tomé has joined Worldline as head of financial services, effective immediately. Tomé, who is also joining the executive committee, succeeds Alessandro Baroni, who has decided to leave the France-based payments firm after two years in the position to “pursue other opportunities”, according to a company statement.
Headquartered in Paris, Worldline provides transaction processing and payment clearing services for banks, retailers, and other businesses across Europe. The company generated €4.6 billion in total revenue in 2024, with its financial services division accounting for €891 million of that figure.
Worldline says Tomé will work to lead the division “through its next phase of innovation, growth, and transformation”, alongside Candice Dillon, who joined as group chief technology officer in July.
Part of this wider transformation includes Worldline selling its mobility and e-transactional services business to Magellan Partners for approximately €410 million. The divestiture has been ongoing since July, and is expected to close in H1 2026.
Tomé will already be familiar with financial services growth initiatives, having led the delivery of more than 65 new products during her 10-year leadership of SIBS, while expanding operations across 15 new business lines.
She also chairs the European Mobile Payments Systems Association (EMPSA), and co-leads the European Payments Alliance (EuroPA), through which SIBS is working to roll out instant cross-border payment capabilities in partnership with payment providers Bancomat and Bizum.
Prior to joining SIBS in 2015, Tomé also worked at Portugal Telecom Group, overseeing B2C commercial strategy and operations, as well as McKinsey and Deloitte.
