Finova appoints David Espley as new CTO

Finova - fintech news

Finova, a cloud-based mortgage and savings software provider, has appointed David Espley as its new chief technology officer (CTO).

In his new role, the company states that Espley’s leadership of its technology strategy will focus on “helping Finova’s clients achieve better outcomes by harnessing the power of AI, cloud, and modern product delivery – all while ensuring resilience, speed, and scalability”.

Finova’s origination solutions are deployed by over 60 lenders, including Metro Bank, TSB, and Leeds Building Society, with the vendor claiming on its website to power one in five UK mortgages.

Espley joins Finova from energy software firm Kaluza, where he served as CTO for over two years, managing a team of over 400 across the UK, EU, North America, and Australia.

Bringing over 20 years of technology leadership experience, Espley also held the CTO role at the UK’s largest wealth manager, Hargreaves Lansdown, as well as at Progressive Digital Media Group and LexisNexis.

This appointment comes shortly after Gareth Richardson was named as the new CEO of Finova in July, arriving from Thought Machine, where he had acted as COO for the past five years. Richardson replaced current executive chairman Paraag Davé, who had served as CEO since December 2024 following Finova’s merger with Iress’ UK Mortgage Sales and Originations business the previous August.

Over the past 12 months, the Finova C-suite has been further bolstered by the additions of Richard Bolger as chief human resources officer, Rowan Clayton as chief product officer, and Richard Marsh as chief customer officer.
