Invites to the event were based on the August Valve Regional Standings (VRS), with The MongolZ, NAVI, FURIA and Aurora Gaming accepting a chance to compete for all-important points and a share of its prize money.
The final four places at the event will be determined by a 16-team closed qualifier taking place from September 9th to 11th, with the top four earning a place in the main event.
August’s VRS and online regional competitions were used to determine the teams competing in the qualifiers. The likes of Ninjas in Pyjamas, OG Esports, ECSTATIC, and M80 are set to compete for a shot at the main event.
“As we enter our third year, the Thunderpick World Championship continues to push the boundaries of competitive Counter-Strike,” said Kelly Sanders, Head of Strategy at Thunderpick.
“With top teams from around the world converging on Malta and the return of defending champions, The MongolZ, fans can expect an unforgettable event full of high-stakes gameplay.”

With four of the world’s top ten Counter-Strike 2 teams in attendance, the Thunderpick World Championship 2025 event is set to have an impact on the VRS as teams look to secure a place within the top 32.
