Lloyds has begun introducing Atleos’ ATM-as-a-Service platform at designated branches in Manchester and Glasgow.
Lloyds Banking Group has formed a partnership with NCR Atleos to modernise its branches with new technology and boost service efficiency.
The UK bank has initiated a pilot programme at its Manchester and Glasgow branches, implementing Atleos’ ATM-as-a-Service (ATMaaS) solution, which encompasses transaction processing and engineering support, along with upgraded recycling capabilities including both coin in and coin out functionality.
As part of the arrangement, NCR Atleos will assume complete responsibility for ATM operations, including cash forecasting and processing, hardware, software, installation, maintenance, and security protocols.
“With this initiative, branch colleagues will no longer be required to maintain any element of the ATM, allowing them to spend more time engaging customers and strengthening relationships,” NCR Atleos says.
Clare Buckley, branch transformation product owner for Lloyds Banking Group, describes the pilot as “the next phase of our branch modernisation programme test proof of concepts”. Buckley notes that “with NCR Atleos’ end to end service proposition, note and coin technology, we will be able to reduce traffic for the counter service, freeing employee time for meaningful customer interactions”.
This technology implementation aligns with Lloyds’ ongoing digital transformation efforts, which recently included the deployment of Athena, its first large-scale generative AI system.
