Robinhood expands Southeast Asian presence with two acquisitions in Indonesia

Robinhood - fintech news

US-based trading and investment platform Robinhood is entering the Indonesian market after securing two new acquisition agreements with Indonesian brokerage PT Buana Capital Sekuritas and licensed digital financial asset trader PT Pedagang Aset Kripto. The financial terms of the deals are undisclosed.

Robinhood says the deals will accelerate its expansion across Southeast Asia and align with its vision of “democratising finance for all”.

By acquiring these companies, Robinhood aims to tap into an equities and crypto trading market with over 19 million capital market investors and 17 million crypto investors, with the company adding that Indonesia “is a compelling market for equities and crypto trading”.

Both acquisitions are pending approval from the Indonesian Financial Services Authority (Otoritas Jasa Keuangan) as well as other regulatory authorities, with both deals expected to close in H1 2026.

Once the deals have been completed, Robinhood will continue to serve Buana Capital’s brokerage customers with financial products. It then also plans to roll out its own brokerage and crypto trading solutions to “connect Indonesian customers to US equities, cryptocurrencies, and more at scale”, the company says.

The majority owner of Buana Capital and PT Pedagang Aset Kripto, Pieter Tanuri, will serve as a strategic advisor to Robinhood following the deals.

The deals bring Robinhood’s total number of acquisitions to 13. Earlier this year, the company continued its global expansion push with a $179 million deal to acquire Canadian crypto firm WonderFi.
