LSEG and OpenAI partner to power secure financial AI access

LSEG

LSEG has announced a new partnership with OpenAI to expand access to licensed market data through AI-powered financial tools.

The pair have teamed up to improve how financial institutions and enterprise users access and analyse market data inside ChatGPT, helping customers gain faster, deeper insights while supporting LSEG’s wider “LSEG Everywhere” strategy for scaling AI in financial services.

LSEG, which provides financial data products such as Workspace and Financial Analytics, will launch a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector so ChatGPT users with the correct licensed credentials can securely access financial content. The first phase will allow users to analyse LSEG’s financial market data and news directly within ChatGPT, with further data categories and functionality planned after the initial rollout.

OpenAI, known for its industry-leading AI platform ChatGPT, will offer secure enterprise access for financial professionals working with licensed data. LSEG will also make ChatGPT Enterprise available internally to around 4,000 employees, helping streamline routine tasks, improve productivity and enhance internal AI capabilities.

The collaboration will also see LSEG working alongside OpenAI’s technical teams to support adoption of new frontier AI models. The MCP connector is expected to go live from the week of 8 December 2025. LSEG confirmed the move deepens an existing series of strategic partnerships across enterprise-grade AI applications, including recent integrations with Microsoft, Claude, Snowflake and Databricks.

LSEG’s strategy, titled “LSEG Everywhere”, focuses on bringing AI-ready licensed data to financial users at scale. The company’s proprietary datasets span decades and incorporate deep taxonomies, analytics and commentary. The business aims to apply secure AI to both internal productivity and external client services.

The first release will begin with LSEG Financial Analytics, with a phased rollout to follow. Users will require LSEG credentials to access the data in ChatGPT. After this initial phase, LSEG plans to expand the MCP connector to additional data types.

LSEG group head of AI Emily Prince said, “LSEG’s connector within ChatGPT combines all the benefits of a secure, enterprise AI platform with a seamless MCP connection and the unparalleled depth, breadth and quality of financial data, analytics, news and commentary that LSEG provides.”

OpenAI head of revenue Ashley Kramer said, “LSEG’s market data and analytics power decisions across global finance. Integrating that strength into ChatGPT makes it even easier for customers to ask complex questions and move quickly with confidence. We’re proud to support LSEG as they bring richer insights to their clients and equip their own teams with more efficient, AI-driven workflows.”
