FE fundinfo acquires Finscape from Equisoft

Financial data firm FE fundinfo is continuing to build out its Nexus platform through the acquisition of Finscape, a specialist provider of investment distribution intelligence.

The acquisition is intended to improve visibility into UK fund flows and provide asset managers with more detailed insights into distribution channels, FE fundinfo says.

Launched by Bella Caridade-Ferreira and Guy Edsall in 2020, Finscape operates a data distribution platform that tracks money flows across the UK retail wealth market, integrating insights from over 15 retail platforms.

Finscape was formed through a joint venture between Fundscape and Altus, a consultancy services provider acquired by Equisoft in July 2021.

FE fundinfo says Equisoft will continue to focus on its pension and investment software business in the UK now that the sale of Finscape is complete. The financial terms of the handover have not been disclosed.

The start-up will be used by FE fundinfo to debut a new intelligence offering through its Nexus platform, which launched in November 2024 and facilitates the collection, verification, management, production and dissemination of data for asset managers.

This integration will provide a more “comprehensive and integrated view” of fund flows, combining historical investor research with real-time distribution intelligence, according to FE fundinfo, tracking fund switches, distributor flows, and portfolio-level allocation changes.

FE fundinfo adds that the feature will also include predictive analytics, enabling asset managers to “see changes as they emerge and respond in real-time”.

This acquisition follows a series of recent purchases by FE fundinfo aimed at strengthening Nexus. In November, FE fundinfo acquired Contengo, a UK-based fintech specialising in fund marketing and regulatory content, enhancing Nexus’s analytics and compliance capabilities.

This follows a June purchase of Fundipedia, a data management platform, to introduce AI-driven workflow tools and improve data accuracy.

Additionally, FE fundinfo acquired Lunar AI in April, used to integrate new AI functionalities into Nexus, further improving its investment management features.
