Revolut partners Booking.com to expand travel payments offering

Revolut - fintech news

Revolut has entered a payments partnership with Booking.com, allowing customers of the global online travel platform to pay via Revolut Pay. The one-click checkout service, launched in 2022 and supported by biometric authentication, now has around two million monthly active users.

Booking.com’s senior director of commercial fintech, JC Rodriguez, says the company will “continue working with Revolut to explore strategic opportunities”, with Revolut Pay being initially available for accommodation bookings, with support for flights and cars to be added at a later date.

Furthermore, users paying with Revolut Pay can earn additional “RevPoints”, which Revolut claims as the first pan-European debit loyalty card programme. These points can be redeemed through the Revolut Pay solution at a variety of merchants, as well as other benefits such as airline miles, experiences, gift cards, and more.

To support the new payment option, Booking.com has adopted Revolut Business, the UK-based firm’s app for companies, for “part of its day-to-day operations”, says Revolut. According to the digital challenger, nine million of its customers have already made purchases on Booking.com, making the platform one of its largest partners in the travel sector.

Revolut, most recently valued at over $75 billion, has been expanding its travel-related services, including last month’s acquisition of German start-up Swiftly, which develops autonomous AI travel tools. The undisclosed sum deal included both Swiftly’s proprietary technology and its founding team.

The digital challenger unveiled its £10 billion global expansion plan in September alongside the opening of its new global headquarters in London’s Canary Wharf. The strategy includes increasing its customer base from 65 million to 100 million by mid-2027 and entering over 30 additional markets by 2030.
