US fintech Acrisure has named Benjamin Funk as its new chief technology officer and chief AI officer.

Funk joins the company following an 11-year stint at data and AI heavyweight Palantir, where he has held the role of global head of insurance for the past five years.

In his new role, Acrisure says Funk will lead its global tech strategy “with a focus on AI transformation, enterprise automation, and expanding the firm’s digital client experience”.

He will report to Mark Wassersug, who previously joined Acrisure as CTO back in April but has since transitioned to the role of chief operating officer (COO).

Founded in 2005, Acrisure offers a range of insurance, payroll, benefits, cybersecurity, wealth management, and real estate services, employing over 19,000 staff across 24 countries.

Earlier this year, the company raised $2.1 billion in an investment round led by Bain Capital at a valuation of $32 billion.

Shortly after the raise, the company also agreed a $1.1 billion deal to acquire Global Payments’ payroll business, Heartland Payroll Solutions.
