Digital asset infrastructure provider Ripple has announced the $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury, a treasury management system and solutions provider with 40+ years of experience serving Fortune 500 clients, including American Airlines.
Ripple says the acquisition is expected to close in the coming months, subject to regulatory approvals. The deal marks Ripple’s third major acquisition this year, following on from the company’s previous acquisitions of prime brokerage company Hidden Road for $1.25 billion and payment infrastructure fintech Rail.
GTreasury has been in operation since 1986, offering a treasury platform covering liquidity management, cash forecasting, payments, netting, and risk management. The Chicago-based business processes approximately $12.5 trillion in payment volume annually for its client base and had been majority owned by London-listed HgCapital Trust since 2023. Trust manager Hg has now confirmed a full exit of GTreasury to Ripple, alongside minority investor Mainsail Partners.
Ripple says it will now combine GTreasury with its digital asset infrastructure to “help customers move, manage, and optimise liquidity in real-time”. The company adds that the resulting corporate treasury management solution will enable users to “unlock idle capital” through Hidden Road repo market access and “move money instantly” through new cross-border payment capabilities.
