Charity Bank to launch savings app powered by Sandstone Technology

 Charity Bank - FinTech News

Charity Bank in the UK has tapped long-standing technology partner Sandstone Technology to power its upcoming mobile savings app.

According to Sandstone, the new offering will include “enhanced self-service capabilities, robust security features, and a suite of modern tools designed to meet the evolving needs of Charity Bank’s customers”, and is expected to launch in Spring 2026.

Based in Tonbridge, Charity Bank provides banking services specifically for charities and social initiatives in the UK. Alongside a range of loan offerings, the bank’s savings suite includes personal savings accounts, business savings accounts, and specialised accounts for charities, trusts, clubs, and credit unions.

Charity Bank was created by the Charities Aid Foundation in 2002 and is entirely owned by charitable organisations, with majority shareholders including Big Society Capital. Former Big Issue Invest MD Ed Siegel has served as CEO since 2018.

Sandstone has worked with Charity Bank for over a decade, and already provides the underlying infrastructure used to process its online loan applications. Now, the partnership is being extended to include the vendor’s mobile platform.

Sandstone, based in Sydney, Australia, is already familiar with the UK savings market having previously been selected by Chetwood Bank in Wrexham to power its digital savings platform, while also previously helping Birmingham’s Wesleyan Bank update its SME channels with front-end digital banking solutions.
