Independent trade association FinTech Wales has promoted Sarah Jones to CEO, succeeding Sarah Kocianski, who stepped down from the position in June.
Jones first joined FinTech Wales as head of marketing in June 2022, before later transitioning to her most recent role of chief marketing officer.
Her 20 years of industry experience also includes marketing roles at Julian Hodge Bank, the New Directions Group, and Welsh recruitment agency Acorn, acquired by Synergie Group in 2006.
On her latest appointment, Jones says: “My focus will be on supporting our members, championing innovation, and ensuring Wales is recognised globally as a thriving hub for financial technology.”
FinTech Wales is the brainchild of Richard Theo, the same founder behind Wealthify, Zero Bank and Active Quote, and since launching in April 2019, has remained “dedicated to empowering FinTech companies and financial services within the region to achieve remarkable success”, according to its website.
Current members include the British Business Bank, Barclays Bank UK, Affinity Financial, Admiral and Aviva, while a partnership with Mastercard was announced in August.
The association had previously been led by Kocianski since March 2024, following the transition of long-time leader Sarah Williams-Gardener to the role of board chair.
