Grasshopper partners Narmi for MCP server integration

Grasshopper Bank - FinTech News

Grasshopper Bank has launched a new Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for business clients in partnership with Narmi, a digital banking technology provider backed by Greycroft, NEA and Picus Capital.

The digital bank says Narmi’s MCP server will enable its business clients to access “personalised financial analysis and insights” through Claude, Anthropic’s flagship AI assistant, to which a Financial Analysis solution was added in July

MCP servers are specialised components that standardise the connection between AI models and external data sources and tools. The protocol was first launched by Anthropic in November 2024.

Grasshopper has now become the first financial institution in the US to implement an MCP server, confirming in a statement that the technology is “currently being rolled out to a limited group of clients as a part of a controlled beta”, with an expansion across its broader business banking portfolio forecast for Q4 2025.

Possible queries include balance updates, budgeting guidance and vendor categorisation, with responses returned instantly, Grasshopper says, while hinting that the infrastructure sets the stage for connectivity with other LLMs in the future.

The Narmi MCP banking integration is currently in private beta for select partners of the vendor, with general availability, featuring read-only access and bank-grade security protocols, planned for Q3 2025.

This implementation with Grasshopper provides an example of how MCP servers are evolving from developer tools to becoming essential infrastructure for connecting AI systems with real-world financial data.
