NatWest’s chief data and analytics officer Zachery Anderson set to depart

NatWest - FinTech News

Zachery Anderson, NatWest Group’s chief data and analytics officer and head of open banking, personalisation, and AI, is set to depart the bank next month after more than five and a half years in the role.

In a statement sent to FinTech Futures, a NatWest spokesperson says: “Zachery is leaving NatWest Group to pursue an opportunity outside the bank.”

“We are grateful for the contribution he has made during his time here and the team will continue to deliver on our data and AI strategy as we advance our technology capabilities to meet the needs of our customers,” the spokesperson continues.

The bank’s head of data transformation, Karen Dewar, will assume the role of interim chief data and analytics officer while NatWest searches, both internally and externally, for a permanent successor to Anderson.

Dewar has worked for the group for over 17 years, and previously filled in for Anderson during his six-month parental leave last year. She will guide NatWest’s ongoing AI and data strategy with support from Dr Maja Pantic, who was hired as the bank’s first chief AI research officer in June

Last month, NatWest announced it has entered a five-year partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Accenture with a focus on accelerating the modernisation of its digital, data analytics, and AI capabilities. In March, NatWest also became the first UK-headquartered bank to partner with OpenAI to help accelerate its adoption of AI.
