Philip Bowcock appointed as new CEO of foreign exchange firm Travelex

Travelex, a UK-based foreign exchange company, has named former William Hill chief executive Philip Bowcock as its new CEO.

Starting immediately, Bowcock takes the company reins from Richard Wazacz, who is departing after leading the organisation since June 2022.

Bowcock brings significant experience in the travel money sector to Travelex. He most recently served as executive chair of NM Money Group, which operates Eurochange, a UK high street and online foreign exchange retailer.

His previous roles include a five-year tenure at gambling firm William Hill, where he served as chief financial officer and later CEO, and he has also held senior finance positions at Cineworld Group, Tesco, and Hilton Group. Bowcock currently also serves as chair of Victoria Plumbing Group.

Founded in 1976, Travelex provides FX services such as a prepaid currency card, SIM cards, travel insurance, foreign currency cash, and international payments and remittances.

Last November, Travelex teamed up with NCR Atleos to modernise its international ATM network of 600 machines. The upgrade involved implementing NCR SelfServ ATMs and NCR Vision monitoring software across the network’s eight operating countries: Australia and New Zealand, Germany, Italy, Czechia, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the UK.
