Antom Launches AI Chargeback Tool for Merchants

Antom Copilot 2.0 introduces industry-first dispute resolution assistant targeting SME payment processing challenges across global markets

Antom, Ant International’s merchant payment and digitalisation services provider, has released an expanded version of its AI agent, introducing automated chargeback management capabilities designed to address revenue recovery challenges faced by small and medium enterprises.

The Singapore-based service announced Antom Copilot 2.0 yesterday, marking a significant upgrade to its artificial intelligence platform that launched in June 2024.

The enhanced system now includes what Antom describes as the industry’s first Chargeback AI Assistant, alongside automated payment method recommendations and AI-assisted merchant onboarding functions.

SME chargeback response rates drive development

The new chargeback functionality addresses a significant gap in SME payment processing, with Antom’s data showing that nearly 50% of small business clients using its platform do not actively respond to payment disputes.

The AI assistant analyses individual cases to build response strategies, providing documentation support and success rate predictions through an integrated dashboard interface.

Pilot testing of the chargeback tool demonstrated a 3 percentage point increase in dispute win rates, whilst reducing time spent on resolution processes by 46%.

The system requires merchant review and manual verification by Antom staff before implementation, with full automation planned for future releases.

The broader Antom Copilot platform processes merchant integration requests 90% faster than traditional methods, utilising chain of thought reasoning and standard operating procedure automation.

The system maintains a 90% satisfaction rate for end-to-end issue resolution across its client base.

Payment method automation expands

Beyond chargeback management, Antom Copilot 2.0 introduces automated payment method recommendations based on merchant requirements and market analysis.

The system evaluates industry trends and regional conditions to suggest appropriate acquiring services and integration solutions, enabling faster deployment of localised payment options with reduced technical resource requirements.

The platform now incorporates multimodal large language model capabilities for merchants onboarding, extracting data from registration documents to streamline account setup processes.

Risk management configuration has been simplified through natural language prompts, making anti-fraud tools more accessible to merchants without technical expertise.

Usage data from the first half of 2025 shows 56% of merchants accessing Antom’s dashboard engaged with the embedded AI assistant.

The most frequent enquiries concerned payment method coverage and supported currencies, industry-specific solutions, and integration technology recommendations.

“We’re building AI tools that go beyond payment acquiring to address real operational needs for merchants”

AI-as-a-Service platform foundation

Antom Copilot operates on Ant International’s Alipay+ GenAI Cockpit, an AI-as-a-Service platform designed to enable fintech companies and super applications to develop AI-native financial services.

The underlying infrastructure supports the development of AI agents across various financial service categories.

The platform represents part of Ant International’s broader AI strategy, focusing on industry-specific solutions that address operational challenges faced by merchants, particularly smaller enterprises seeking to leverage technology for business growth.

Antom positions the enhanced AI capabilities as moving beyond traditional payment acquiring services to provide comprehensive operational support for merchants navigating complex payment ecosystems and regulatory requirements across multiple markets.

Market positioning and competitive landscape

Antom’s expansion of AI-powered merchant services comes as the global payments industry increasingly adopts artificial intelligence to address operational inefficiencies and compliance challenges.

The chargeback management functionality specifically targets a pain point that has historically required significant manual intervention and specialised knowledge.

The company’s focus on SME clients reflects broader market trends towards democratising access to sophisticated payment technologies previously available only to larger enterprises.

By automating complex processes such as dispute resolution and risk management configuration, Antom Copilot 2.0 aims to reduce barriers to entry for smaller merchants seeking to expand their payment capabilities.
