Dutch banking heavyweight ABN Amro is set to introduce BUUT, a new banking account designed for customers aged 11 to 18.
The bank plans to launch the service after summer 2025, offering payment, savings, and budgeting capabilities alongside a digital platform that allows both parents and children to monitor financial activities.
BUUT, which will initially be available only in the Netherlands, was built on ABN Amro’s Tikkie mobile payment platform and developed over 12 months, according to the bank.
In comments to FinTech Futures, an ABN Amro spokesperson described BUUT as the “first bank that grows with the child, in terms of possibilities, tone, and education”, adding that it is a “completely new banking concept, visually and intuitively designed, in line with what young people are accustomed to in digital interactions and personalised environments”.
Moving forward, the spokesperson outlined that a “logical next step is for BUUT to become an 18+ bank”, confirming that there are plans in place to “expand the user age category and add new features that meet the needs of young adults”.
BUUT joins ABN Amro’s portfolio of digital financial services, which includes the Tikkie payment app; New10, a business financing platform; and Bux, a retail investment app acquired by the bank in 2024.
