Lloyds partners with Hopper to unveil AI-powered travel booking service

Lloyds, one of the UK’s leading financial institutions, has introduced a new feature in its mobile app—‘Lloyds Travel Booking’—becoming the first UK bank to offer integrated travel booking directly within its banking platform. The innovation is powered by travel technology company Hopper.

The launch of this new feature comes in response to growing consumer demand for simplified, end-to-end digital travel experiences. With travel representing a major part of household spending, Lloyds saw an opportunity to enhance customer convenience and engagement by integrating travel planning into its banking services.

Lloyds offers a wide range of personal and commercial banking products to millions of customers across the UK. As part of its digital strategy, the bank has increasingly invested in mobile app functionality to make everyday tasks—such as managing money, accessing financial products, and now booking travel—more seamless.

The new Lloyds Travel Booking tool enables users to book both flights and accommodation globally, all within the Lloyds app. The feature uses Hopper’s AI-driven platform, which includes several smart capabilities aimed at helping customers secure the best value for their trips.

Key features of the service include a Best Price Guarantee, which promises to match any better price found within 24 hours of booking; Price Prediction, which advises users when to book flights based on historical data; and Price Drop Protection, which monitors prices for 10 days after a booking and refunds the difference if the fare drops.

Additionally, all trip details are stored in the app, allowing customers to easily track and manage their upcoming travel without needing to juggle multiple platforms.

Lloyds also shared research from Hopper, revealing that Istanbul is currently the top destination searched by UK travellers for summer holidays, followed by Bangkok, Dubai, New York City, and Delhi.

Lloyds managing director, customer propositions Tamara van den Ban said, “Holidays give people a chance to escape the realities of everyday life, spend time with their loved ones and experience new things. UK spending data shows just under a tenth of household spending goes on travel, so we understand it’s a big part of our customers’ lives. We knew we wanted to make it easier for our customers to organise their trips from beginning to end and bringing Lloyds Travel Booking to the app is a great solution. Working with Hopper, we’re the first UK bank to offer our customers unparalleled convenience, value and peace of mind when planning their travels, all of which can be managed in the palm of their hand, through our mobile app.”

Hopper president and co-founder Dakota Smith said, “Modern financial institutions are looking for ways to deepen engagement. End-to-end travel portals from Hopper Technology Solutions help partners broaden their product offerings. We are thrilled to partner with Lloyds to bring an enhanced travel booking experience to consumers in the UK.”
